Byfuglien shouldn't even be thought of as traded. It is night and day when he is out of the lineup.

I am all for trading Antropov, Oduya and Fehr for whatever we can get for them.

Big Buff...oh how i miss the'...

YES, during the season Buff will go through periods where it looks like he is out bird watching, but in the playoffs Buff morphs into an absolute monster.

The Jets just need to deal with his ups and downs...make the playoffs and turn the Big Boy lose to terrorize and demoralize all opponents.

I dont know who's calling for a buf trade or even thought of it, i think hes off limits . Enstrom on the other hand can be sent packing.

According to Corsi, Mason Raymond is our best player this year. Go figure.

Why do you think Corsi developed that stat? It's the only stat that made himself seem like a legitimate NHLer.

Buff's play or lack thereof frustrates a lot of people and there have been more than a few in the media who have said if the right deal came along they would trade him. However, if the right deal came along any player is tradeable. It's not about the 'right deal' it's about making the decision that you can be better without him and make that deal happen!

There is no reason to trade Byfuglien right now and here's why.

The Byfuglien trade talk has not really been heard for a while. It usually comes up when he does something that costs his team a win, as wins are all too uncommon for this club.

Although Buff might be the biggest "rover" in the game and can more often than not be found beneath the circles in the offensive zone, his impact on a game is significant. Sometimes for the good, sometimes not.

The fact of he matter is that he provides offensive opportunity on a team that is sorely lacking it. This team needs to produce scoring chances from the back end due to the lack of scoring talent from up front.

Players like Little, Ladd, and you could possibly make a case for Wheeler, are being forced into a top-line role which for all intents and purposes, they do not have the taent for. Yes, I know Wheeler has big time speed and has the ability to make game-changing plays, but his lack of scoring touch might actually place him into a 4-6 slot instead of top line.

As this season progresses the most aggravating thing about this team is that they are staying in the race for the final playoff spot in the East. For anyone looking at the bigger picture for this team, the idea of just missing the playoffs should make them shudder. Obviously finishing 9th is the worst possible outcome, and as the end of the season draws closer it is becoming glaringly apparent that 9th is the place this team is destined to finish.

As for possible trades, at the deadline I believe the only Jet who will be dealt will be Johnny Oduya. His salary and the fact that he is a UFA makes him the one rental player that a team looking to go deep into the payoffs would be interested in.

Could a player like Hainsey be inquired about ? Sure, but I doubt it. If Chevy can somehow find a way to move him though, he might be the GM of the year.

Tonights game will more than likely end in a Jets loss and with that, possibly a different attitude towards their playoff future. At that point, Chevy will have some very interesting decisions to make about what he wants this club to look like next year.

What I will be more interested in is how he molds the "culture" of this club. Who he chooses to keep and who he lets go will be the most telling factor as to what type of values this team's brass covet most.

As I have stated before, talent without the character to back it up, it meaningless.

Rick if Oduya is here after the 27th I'll take you to a game on my dime because we'll both have to get sloppy drunk to understand why.

Dear Chevy,

Aquire Carter. I think scoring is an issue.

Just a hunch.

So a first and Scheifele for Carter?

Not sure on that only because Carter is a shoot first centre and this team needs a playmaker as much as a scorer.

The day he was dealt I said it was a monsterous mistake. I think part of what we are seeing here in Chicago is due to it. You don't deal a guy with that size/skill combination. We did and are now paying for it.

A prospect is a suspect until he proves he can stick. I'd take Carter. And we need GOALS. And you want a passer
come on Peter, the guy still has playmaking ability to go along with his nose for the net. I think we could deal a roster player and a pick to get him. That's what it cost Columbus. Besides Sheiflie could turn out to be another Brassard. I hope not. Point is carter's proven. Period.

I agree, Buffs value is FAR more than what he causes with his odd defensive lapse.
The media should be focusing on what he brings to the team.

Am i missing something, sure Oduya coughs it up more than the other defence (save for Buff) and he makes a good chunk of change, i still see him as a pretty solid guy out there. I dunno, could be a lot worse. I believe we have a good solid core that could take his place but i dunno, i would want a quality forward (15-20 goal guy) back if he were traded.

Antropov and Fehr on the other hand have no value IMHO and should actively be shopped for little or no return. Both could be replaced by assets we currently have on the farm, no question in my mind whatsoever.

What are you confused about? You nailed it. Oduya is on his way to UFA status and is a decent to good 3-5 slot defenseman which is in high demand. I highly doubt he brings in a top 6 forward but he's one of the only guys who are actually WORTH trading, especially since we have guys waiting in the wings to take his job.
As you said, Antropov and Fehr have "no value" so who would want them and what would they bring back? No sense in throwing them out for nothing when they can finish the season here and the brass can decide how to move forward when the time is right.

P.S. Buff's half ice goal last night was probably the loudest and most shocked I've ever gotten at a goal this year. Love watching the guy play, so glad he'll be around for a while.
